Mount Hesperus is located in the La Plata Mountains, in the south west of the San Juan range. Hesperus (Dibé Nitsaa) is one of the four sacred mountains of the Navajo people and marks the northern border of their traditional homeland. The other sacred mountains are Mount Blanca (CO -East), Mount Taylor (NM – South), and San Francisco Peak (AZ – West).
